Caleta de Velez is a typical Spanish fishing resort which offers a marina, fishing harbour and beach within a 5 minute walk of the Mediterraneo Apartment.

Golf
The Baviera 18 hole Golf Course is a 5 minute drive away and the mature Anoreta course only ten minutes from the apartment.

Food/Shops
Although Caleta is not a large resort it has a number of cafés, bars and restaurants serving good food (especially fish and seafood) all within walking distance.  Shops including a bakers, supermarket, chemist and bank are also nearby.  Those seeking a busier resort can visit the town of Torre del Mar which can be reached either by a stroll down the promenade linking Caleta to Torre del Mar,  or by a short car journey.  There you will find a wide range of restaurants, bars, shops and nightspots as well as a  5 kilometre stretch of beach and promenade.

Local Resorts  
The ever popular resorts of Nerja and Torrox are approximately 15 minutes away by car or bus.  Nerja, which is famous for its historical caves, has numerous restaurants and bars, lovely beaches and is close to the picturesque village of Frigiliana, which is a must for visitors.

Further Afield
Caleta de Velez is an ideal central base from which to visit Granada and the Alhambra Palace and the Sierra Nevada ski resort which is a short drive from Granada. Malaga, with its culture, beaches and wonderful shopping facilities is 30 minutes away by car. There is a bus service from Caleta to Malaga City centre and also to Nerja.  Malaga airport is approximately 35 minutes drive. Car hire is available from the airport.

Local Culture
Caleta has a lively and colourful Saturday market which is held until 2pm on the coastal road just below the apartments. The market is known for its herbs, spices, flowers and plants amongst lots of other things.  It is customary to barter for items.
